WHAT ARE WE CHASING?
After more than 10 years with Panini, the exclusive license for collectible products of the National Football League (NFL) returned to Topps at the beginning of April, ushering in a new era in the world of football cards.
The BASE SET of the collection includes a total of 400 cards and is divided into two sections, Veterans (300 cards) and Rookies (100 cards). Visually, the cards adopt the design known for the 2025 season from the Chrome Baseball and Chrome Basketball collections. The base set is complemented by 50 BASE IMAGE VARIATIONS, which present Veterans and Rookies with alternate images and are significantly rarer in the products. Another variation are the CHROME ETCH VARIATIONS with a differently designed background, produced by Topps for 50 Veterans and 50 Rookies from the base set.
A total of 18 different insert categories cover various themes with special designs. More commonly found in packs are the 1975 TOPPS, ALL-CHROME TEAM, FORTUNE 15, FUTURE STARS, LEGENDS OF THE GRIDIRON and POWER PLAYERS insert cards. Significantly rarer and already considered case hits are the FANATICAL, GAME GENIES, LIGHTNING LEADERS, RADIATING ROOKIES, SHADOW ETCH, TECMO, ULTRA VIOLET and URBAN LEGENDS inserts. Among the extremely rare cards and therefore special finds are the HELIX, KAIJU and the LET’S GO inserts. Also included in the collection are the already known HIDDEN GEMS.
Among them legends like Tom Brady and Barry Sanders, active stars like Josh Allen and Jahmyr Gibbs, as well as rising talents like Jaxson Dart and Tetairoa McMillan. Further categories include the CHROMOGRAPHS known from other sports, the classically styled 1990 TOPPS FOOTBALL AUTOGRAPHS, the HALL OF CHROME autographs featuring some of the most significant players of this sport, and the RETAIL ROOKIE AUTOGRAPHS, which are exclusively reserved for retail products, Mega Box, Blaster Box, Hanger Box. Featuring two signatures on one card are the DUAL AUTOGRAPHS with different combinations of current players, rookies, and legends.
ROOKIE PATCH AUTOGRAPHS with a diamond-shaped jersey piece from the player’s first NFL season, complemented by their signature. The patches embedded in ROOKIE PREM1ERE PATCH AUTOGRAPHS cards were worn by the players when they took the field for the first time in an official NFL regular season game, making these cards truly special one-of-a-kind pieces from every NFL professional’s career. With the NFL HONORS GOLD SHIELD AUTOGRAPHS, Topps has created unique cards that feature not only a signature but also gold-decorated NFL Shields embedded into the cards, which were worn by the award winners of the 2024 NFL Honors during the last season.
